Rule Britannia!

Press Release 17 March 2015

Britannia – by royal command
FTF help P&O launch their super liner Britannia in style

Newspapers and television news broadcasts were full of images of the Queen naming P&O’s brand new super liner Britannia last week. FTF Worldwide Event Management were proud to be engaged to welcome the ship and send her off on her first cruise.

With the Royal Marines band marching alongside the liner and hundreds watching from the shore of Southampton water, Britannia set off on her maiden voyage on the fastest ever selling cruise for her owners, P&O. Every cabin was snapped up within days of going on sale and passengers enjoyed a gala day and send-off with 130kg of confetti and 7,500 fireworks.

FTF was responsible for Britannia’s arrival in the docks alongside Southampton’s Mayflower Park, with the Band of the Parachute Regiment and the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment’s Parachute Display Team. On the Gala day they organised fireworks and a lone piper from the 19th Regiment Royal Artillery, The Scottish Gunners, as well as the final farewell on the liner’s maiden voyage.

Event Co-ordinator Tracey de Vere White said: “It was an honour and a privilege to be asked to provide event management and services at such an historic series of events. There will be many memories to treasure for us all for a long time to come.

FTF Sponsor Hertfordshire Mavericks Netball

In amongst a busy schedule in January 2012 we had a request from a friend of one of our clients to ask if we’d be interested in sponsoring a local netball team! Not the first thing to spring to mind when considering new marketing ideas but we thought 'Let's do it  - it’s indoors and warm! :)'.

When we looked into it more closely it wasn’t as simple as we first thought. The Hertfordshire Mavericks play in the Netball Superleague and were league champions in 2010/2011 so therefore had high expectations of their sponsors. Still we thought - 'Why not? We can rise to any challenge.....'

So off we went to the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield with sound and lighting equipment to set up ready for the game between Hertfordshire Mavericks and Surrey Storm to be shown live on Sky Sports 4. We were asked to floodlight the players as they ran on to the court and play short music stings at each goal. It all sounded straight forward but then we saw how fast the game is played and realised we’d have to concentrate hard not to miss a goal or play the wrong piece of music!

Since that very chilly night we’ve followed the girls both virtually and in the real world, supplying some of their technical requirements and learning a lot about netball very quickly. We've seen some amazing games and incredible young talent and we are delighted to say that at the moment the team are third in the league with three games to play so on course to make the finals weekend on 18th / 19th May.

So Lets Go Mavericks!! #blackandpurple #englandnetball
